Poems
Welcome to the poem page!
These poems have been written by the writer and author; Tanya Squire
'A way with words' from the Lighthouse clan,
Aimee writes about emotions, her memories and our godly plan,
She inspired me to write all my memories down,
My very supportive and closest friend around.

2017 on a family holiday in the Yorkshire Dales,
I was further inspired with ideas of stories and fairy tales.
A fairy door opened the discovery of a new world,
I wrote them all down before they were imperilled.

But lacking confidence, something I always endured,
I was blessed to have a supportive mother who always reassured.
The stories were completed in a week and a day,
Giving us somewhere to go, if we needed to get away.

Excitedly I showed my friend Aimee,
who gave me details of a publisher who could help me,
"Give them a call and they'll do the rest"
I replied, "I couldn't be more thankful you sure are the best!"

I will now be able to cherish these memories in my hand,
A copy of my book where I created a fairy wonderland.
31st of May I'm excited to share,
"A Pocket full of Fairy Tales" will be in a book shop somewhere!

As a troubled soul writing can be a release,
my father would say it always brought him peace.
As a child, I would listen but not take in a word
as I looked at him carelessly thinking he was absurd.

"We're going on a bear hunt" I would say to my son
With the imagination of a child "Oh! the hours of fun".
As time has gone by stories have been forgotten,
If only I had noted them down, I would remember what we had plotted.

Running and screaming away from the dragons,
Jumping on benches pretending we had escaped on wagons.
Experiencing reality I can't remember how the stories ended,
But with the gift of a daughter these stories have now extended!

When my daughter turned two we found fairies on our walk,
along with the bear hunt, this was added to our talk.
Once we found a lion with our powers we turned him small,
we also made friends with a fairy and magicked her tall!

My Inspiration to write
That's Why I Love Autumn
"Just one more minute" again I said,
No sign of daylight as I lie in bed,
As the nights get shorter,
& the mornings cooler,
That's when you know autumn has begun.

Enriching colours of auburn, orange, rouge & brown,
and the leaves slowly fall to the ground,
winter berries are in bloom,
in natures changing showroom,
as you feel the magic of autumn all around.

Indecisive of a cardi or coat to wear,
slippery leaves as you take extra care,
a fresh cool breeze
as the scarecrows will freeze
I love autumn to you I declare.

As the animals all prepare to fall fast asleep,
collecting there nuts and berries for keeps,
children roll in the leaves
collects conkers in there sleeves
True beauty of autumn is emotionally deep!

Autumn provides hope for you and me,
as spring will be back as we will sing with glee,
so let the leaves all fall,
hold your head up tall,
and let us watch how beautiful change can be.

Don't forget your smile

"Its time to go" said working mother bunny,
Put on your shoes and pack up your dummy,
You'll spend all day with uncle bunny Kyle
But don't forget your smile!

They did arts and crafts and read books in the shade,
and even spent time plaiting their hair in braids.
The adventure in the woods was over a mile,
but he seemed to have forgotten his smile.

Little baby bunny sat quietly alone,
as he said to bunny Kyle in a very sad tone,
"I miss my mummy! and cuddled up to bunny Kyle.
comforting him he replied; "Oh that's why you've been missing your smile!"
Its Not Rain
Its not rain
Its teardrops
...with the world the Lord is in despair.

Its not rain
its splashes
from the water fairies dancing in a lake somewhere

Its not rain
its a waterfall
splashing over a vertical drop soaking through my hair.

Its not rain
its water droplets
falling from the leaves as a giant fights a bear.

Its not rain to me.
what does it mean to you, please share!

My Fairy Friend

We all have a godmother fairy
who we can always say "She's mine
who will love you and adore you
for the whole of your lifetime.

For you should never deny your fairy
or your dreams will not come true,
her wings would be removed,
and her heart would break in two.

As i grow old with my fairy
we speak of memories that we once had,
of childhood games my teenage crush
or times when I felt sad.

I will always love my fairy
as she is perfect in every way,
and you should always believe in your fairy
there is nothing more i can say!
Your THE Lucky Charm of Mine
I have often wondered why things never seem to go right,
I followed all the advise that should give me pure delight,
I searched for a four leaf clover from morning till late at night!

I tried to find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow,
Walking so far even passing a lava erupting volcano,
When I got there the gold had now gone, little did I know!

I tried to pick up a penny in the hope I would have good luck,
but when I tried to grab it, sadly it was stuck.
I went to salute a magpie, but as I got closer I released it was a duck!

So I have a lucky horse shoe on my kitchen wall,
Evil eyes warning off an evil soul,
these are supposed to give me luck or that's what I recall.

Passing someone on the stairs crossing my fingers is fine,
lucky number 7 I keep on the sideline,
But one thing that will never change is you're the lucky charm of mine!

Where is My Tidying Fairy?
Where is my tidying fairy?
She needs to be quite wary,
I can't believe she is causing me a painful obstacle course!

Where is my tidying fairy?
She can make me feel quite merry,
as I'm getting very tired so I may have go and outsource!

Where is my tidying fairy?
as I'm sat here drinking my sherry
My untidy fairy and I are embarrassed by the mess so firing her we will have to enforce!
